I have just listened to Jon Richards’ album “The Sacred Tree”: I am a lover of new age/ambient music, so I use to listen to many albums which fit this genre…but – I must say – “The Sacred Tree” is one of the best that I have heard so far! It is no less then the albums of the greatest producers like Yanni or Vangelis. The first song, “Song Of The Season” pleasantly introduces the listener to Mr. Richards’ musical world, conveying a positive feeling that – in my opinion – is the perfect way to start our musical journey. “The Triple Goddess” creates in my mind the image of a mysterious and beautiful woman, thanks to the female vocals, the gentle chillout percussion groove and the acid synths that sometimes appear through the song. Another favourite of mine is the track which gives the name to the album – “The Sacred Tree”: here, can be heard clearly influences from celtic music…this song is a wonderful mix between the traditional folk music and the use of the most modern instruments and softwares…listening to this song, I immediately remembered famous masterpieces like the album “The Celts” by Enya: Mr.Richards was able to overcome the model of the “queen” on new age music, and created a piece fully original, evocative and absolutely stunning – which every lover of ethnic-fusion music will appreciate for sure!
The duration of this album is 63 minutes…63 minutes of excellent music, always creative, never boring, very well arranged and with a top-level production. I definitely recommend this CD to every lover of ambient music…to every lover of good music in general!!
